Four Crescent Moons - Chapter Five

 ~ Chapter Five ~

Once inside, They're greeted by a Sandwing and a Mudwing. "Welcome back guys!" says the Mudwing. The Sandwing notices Crescent, who is standing next to Ash, with his head low. "Who's this?" she asks in a cheerful voice. Skip steps forward and extends his wing, motioning to the Multiwing. "This is Crescent, a triwing. More or less." Ash and the older two dragonets all tilt their heads in curiosity, "More or less?" Skip flinches, "That was supposed to be in my head." He glances at Crescent, "Sorry." Crescent shakes his head, "It's f-fine. I've never known who my p-parents are, so I guess what I am is a mystery. I just c-call myself a triwing to m-make it easier." Aqua bounds forward, "Wait! But you've said that you were Nightwing, Sandwing and Rainwing, and you have Skywing wings. So then technically you would be a Multiwing, right?" Crescent mentally cringes for the second time that day, 'Moons, at least they'll think it was their idea. I'll have to keep this up for as long as I can take it.' He pretends to think for a moment, and nods. "I-I guess so." The older Sandwing nods and beams, "Well then, welcome to Jade Mountain Academy, Crescent. I'm Sunny, and this is Clay. We're a couple of the teachers you'll have during your time here." Crescent nods, "N-Nice to m-meet you too." Clay smiles and nods toward the hallway to the left, "Ash, since you've gotten yourself situated already, why don't you show her around?" Skip and his friends snort and burst out laughing, and Ash chuckles, all making Crescent's already pink scales darken to a deep red. "What's wrong?" asks Sunny. Crescent shrinks a little, "Um..I'm m-male..." Sunny gasps and Clay's eyes widen, "I'm so sorry! I really thought you were a girl." Aqua beams, "🎵Androgynous🎶" Crescent looks up at them, "It's alright. I'm n-not used to it, but I guess I'll have to be. S-Since apparently it's n-not just them who t-thought I was a girl." He points to Skip and his friends. Everyone laughs and soon they all break apart, leaving Crescent with Ash in the entrance.

"Why don't we head to my cove, you can leave your stuff there and then we can go explore. I only arrived like two hours ago, so I haven't looked around yet." says the Sandwing with a sweep of his wing and revealing some spirally swirls on the bottom and light-up patches on his underbelly along with noticing his large tail. 'Large and powerful enough for a Seawing.' Crescent's eyes widen and he lowers his head, bowing slightly. "What's wrong?" asks Ash. Crescent looks up at him, "You're a S-Seawing p-prince. I kn-knew you were p-part Seawing, I just d-didn't know you were of royal l-lineage." Ash blushes, this time not hiding it as much as before and looking away slightly, embarrassed. "Even if I am, why would you bow? It's not like I'm really that important anyway. I'm a prince, kinda, not a princess. Me and my half brother haven't exactly been treated as such. My half sister however, spoiled. Though, ever since what happened a couple years ago with the prophecies, she's gotten better." He notices Crescent quietly watching and listening, "Sorry. I started rambling again." Crescent shakes his head, "It's alright. If you need to talk or just vent, I'll be listening." This comment seemed to both surprise and amuse the hybrid. He smirked, "You didn't stutter. Do you feel more comfortable around me? You seemed pretty timid with the others despite having been with them for almost a day. You met me not ten minutes ago and your stuttering has already started to go away." Crescent blinks and all of his scales turn a slight pinkish-purple hue, "I-I guess s-so. It's just, n-no ones ever been nice to me before s-so I guess I am. It's a bit hard to speak..." he trails off, his lips move for a second before he breathes in, catches his breath and sighs. Ash looks a bit sad for him, "How come it's hard to speak?" Crescent looks down, "I haven't spoken since about two months after hatching." It seems to be leading to a sensitive subject for the Multiwing so Ash decided to talk about something else. "How about we go to the cave, we can think of what to do then." Crescent gives him a grateful look and nods.

They walk through the hallways and Ash turns and walks into a cave with three different kinds of beds. In one corner there's a hammock made of leaves, tree sap and bark. There's a couple beds built into the wall with one that has feathers, vines and a bit of sand in the corner. 'That's probably his.' Crescent looks up to see that the top bed is empty. "You can pick whichever you want. The best part is, they lets us decorate and bring stuff inside from home. That's why I have a bit of sand in the corner over there." says the hybrid. Crescent nods and looks around for a moment, before hopping up to the top bunk. "Good choice. Sky's gonna be pissed, but he's harmless, don't worry about him." Ash says with his signature smirk. Crescent blushes again, the pink color returning to his scales. Ash laughs and tilts his head slightly, "So you're a Multiwing huh?" Crescent nods, "Um...I know I've only just met you...could I tell you something?" 'He seems nice enough...' Ash walks up to the bunk and stands up on two legs, leaning against the edge. "Yeah sure, what's up?" Crescent lays down, the small space forcing him to place his head near Ash, noticing a small bit of blush on the hybrid's snout. "I've never had friends, and no one's ever been..nice... to me. Everyone at home has always called me by a nickname..so I came here. I was hoping..maybe I could start new.." He trails off again, taking a deep breath and sighing. Ash gives him a soft smile, "Yeah. While you're here, you can have as many friends as you want." His smirk returns, "Though, it'd be nice if I could keep you to myself." Leaning forward, he places his snout very close to Crescent's. The Multiwing blushes and blinks, his reaction seemingly amusing the hybrid and he chuckles, "Why don't we go exploring? It's more fun with a friend."

Crescent's eyes widen slightly and they seem to sparkle a little as he smiles. 'Friend? '
