Four Crescent Moons - Chapter Four

 ~ Chapter Four ~

As they soar through the air toward their destination, Aqua makes a comment that makes Crescent feel fairly confused. "Whoa! You have HUGE wings! Are you the daughter of a Skywing?" Crescent almost falls straight out the air but catches himself, slowing down a bit so the others can catch up to him. "I wouldn't know. Why did you call me a girl?" he says. Now it's Aqua's turn to look confused, "Wait you're not a girl?" Crescent shakes his head, "No. Last time I checked, I've been male since hatching." She looks a bit shocked, but she recovers quickly. "I'm so sorry. I seriously thought you were female." Sycamore glides closer and looks the multibrid over, making him slightly uncomfortable. "I'm not gonna lie, you do look like a girl. I guess it depends on the angle though." Mudskipper turns around, "I think so too. I thought he was male since the minute he looked at me. Though when I first saw him I could've sworn it was a cute girl just sleeping in the forest." The scales on Crescent's scales turn a light shade of pink and he looks away. "So maybe you're just androgynous." Aqua concludes. "Hey, are you blushing? Or is that just part of your triwing gifts?" Asks Skip, as he flies next to Crescent. "J-Just a gift. I'm R-Rainwing, Sandwing and Nightwing." he replies shakily. "Then how do you have Skywing wings? Maybe your parents were both opposites? Not the same tribes in any way?" says the Mudwing. "I don't know. Let's j-just get to the academ-my."

A few hours go by, and the group is already nearing the school. "Maybe another hour or so and we should be there." says Sycamore. "I'm getting tired guys can we take a break?" asks Aqua. "Yeah, my wings are starting to feel a bit heavy. Let's go near that river there." Skip points to a stream near the bottom of the mountains. They swoop down and land on the shore next to the water. Crescent wades into the water and looks into his reflection. He sees the bite on his neck, 'At least it's starting to subside. Doesn't hurt as much anymore. Moons Dusk, what are you up to?' A paw on his shoulder (not the damaged one) shook him from his thoughts. "Hey, you alright?" He looks up to see Skip next to him, once again wearing his usual curious look. He nods, "Yes. I'm fine. Just hurting a bit." He starts to feel nauseous and his stomach rumbles. "I-I'll be right back." He turns and runs off into the forest, hearing Skip shouting for him to wait, but he can't wait. Hiding behind a tree, he vomits again. 'Three moons, that was close. Ugh, why Dusk..' "Crescent?! You out here? Where'd you go?" He cringes, 'Tree frogs and sloth dung. He followed me.' He sighs and steps out from his hiding spot. "Crescent! Jeez, you kind of scared me back there. Are you sure you're okay?" Crescent looked down at the ground, "Y-Yeah. I'm f-fine Skip." The Mudwing furrows his brows, "I'm sorry, but..I don't believe you. You don't have to talk about it right now, but I would like an explanation at some point." Crescent nods and wipes his face, feeling something wet on his cheek. 'I'm crying. Sigh..' Skip walks over to him and puts a wing around him, "We'll go back in a minute. We'll just tell the others that you're not feeling well, and that they'll take care of you at the academy, ok?" Crescent nods again and sniffles, "Thanks Skip."

After Crescent calms down, they walk back to the area where the other two dragonets are waiting, Aqua pacing and Sycamore laying down. "Hey guys." Aqua's ears perk up, and she practically tackles Crescent with a small growl, which turns into a worried whimper. "Are you okay? What happened? It's not very nice to run off like that." Crescent shakes his head, "I'm fine. I just don't feel well." She sighs and gets off. He rolls over and stands, wincing when he puts weight on his injured shoulder. "We should go. The school year officially starts in twelve days." says Sycamore. Everyone agrees, and they take off again. After almost an hour, they see the school. "Hey look! There it is!" Sycamore exclaims. Crescent can see the towers now growing from the top and sides of the peak it sits upon. They land on the platform and watch as another dragonet walks out. "Hey guys. How's it?" he turns to Crescent with a small smirk on his face, "Who's this?" Skip laughs and pokes the Sandwing with his tail. "Swinging the other way I see?" Crescent notices a light blush make its way onto the Sandwings snout, but he hides it well and just smiles at the Mudwing. "Oh really? I was just trying to be polite is all. You should worry about yourself. You're not exactly seeing the obvious details standing behind you." Skip, confused, looks back to see Sycamore chatting happily with Aqua and spins back around. "T-That's not f-funny Ash." The Sandwing, Ash, turns to look at Crescent again, giving the Multiwing dragonet a clear view of his eyes. 'They're green. Sea green. Maybe he's also a hybrid.' He sees the gills slightly hidden on his neck. 'Yep. He's part Seawing.' "Like what you see?~" Crescent flinches at the comment and blushes, snapping back into the present. "S-Sorry. I got l-lost in thought again." he says quietly. Ash steps closer, "It's alright. Sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I tend to come off too strong on strangers." he says with a slight chuckle. Crescent looks up and tries his best to smile, making the Sandwing's smile grow even wider. "Why don't we go inside and we can talk there? Maybe I could help you get a room. I have an extra bunk in my room you can use, since Sky won't be here for a while." Crescent nods and they all walk into the entrance of the school.

'This is going really well so far. I just hope I can keep it that way.'
